There are several considerations in building a rod for Land Based Game Fishing such as Shark, Tuna and Marlin. Generally, these are Overhead build ups. The ideal blank length is 7’ to 10’ and rating is 15 to 37kg. Use a heavy glass or graphite composite blank as they will take the abuse on the rocks.
Component selection would include a heavy frame guide (Fuji:HB or LR, Alps:HXN or SU) with matching tip (Fuji HG or Alps DH) or a roller tip if that is your preference. Use a heavy duty aluminium reel seat and aluminium Gimbal as you would be fishing with a Gimbal Belt. Grips would be a choice between EVA or Leather.
